Symantec, one of the best known software companies around has acquired Altiris, a company that produces, amongst other things, Deployment Server. This product is intended for use in corporate environments for streamlining the remote and unattended installation of operating systems and applications.

No doubt this buy out will change the way Altiris products are made available and, eventually, the way they’ll look and feel too.

I’ve done a lot of work with Deployment Server and it’s pretty cool in its current state so I hope it doesn’t change too much …
