Ok, so I finally made the switch to using Windows Vista (Ultimate) on my work laptop. It looks awesome and seems to perform pretty well (this laptop scored a 4.2 on the Windows Performance Index thing).

There are a couple of things that I’ve found about Vista that are semi-annoying, the most noticeable being Microsoft Terminal Services Client (mstsc.exe) bringing up a large warning about the identity of the remote computer if it’s not running either Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008 (Longhorn).

Microsoft Terminal Services Client Warning

There is a simple way to stop this warning from happening on a client machine of your own. On the Advanced tab change the drop-down box that will be set to “Warn me if authentication fails” to “Always connect, even if authentication fails”. Note that this won’t affect your servers’ ability to not let people in if they supply an incorrect username or password.
