03Jun Managing Windows RDP Connections (etc)
If you’re involved in systems administration like me you’ll quite often find yourself with multiple RDP connections to the various servers you manage. Sometimes this can be a bit of a pain, especially when you don’t like the Windows taskbar option to ‘Group similar taskbar buttons’ and have it turned off. Luckily there is an easy (and free) solution.
I use a small program from CodePlex called ‘Terminals‘. It’s got a really easy-to-use interface and allows you to manage all your RDP/VNC/VMRC/Telnet/RAS/ICA (Citrix)/HTTP/HTTPS connections from one place.
I highly recommend Terminals if you often have multiple connections open - it’s helps me a lot when I find myself with a whole heap of RDP sessions open at one time. At the time of writing this article the latest version is Terminals 1.6l and it you can download from the CodePlex Terminals website.

Thanks for the tip, gave Terminals a look and it’s certainly better than the MMC snap-in. However I got frustrated that you couldn’t see which sessions were currently active, or organise your connections.
Give RoyalTS a look, it’s even better than Terminals IMO (but still not perfect): http://code4ward.net/

Hey Ross
Cheers for the link to RoyalTS - it looks like the features are better than Terminals in a lot of ways. I’ll try it out for sure!
